It's come to my attention that I've been doing nothing but working a full-time job and almost completely neglecting the drum and z'bass. What the fuck!? How does this happen, right? Well, now I'm waking up. I was selling a peice of gear to this dude who was basically me, like 6 years ago, and we were talking about what was going on in the current DnB scene, and what was still going on around DC. In case it's not obvious, I kinda completely checked out there for a minute. A whole new generation of DnB heads have taken up the cause, and it was good to hear that some of the old school (for DnB anyways) dudes were still kickin it. Apparently Deinfamous, Harry Ransom, a lot of those cats who have been into the DCDnB scene even way longer than I have are still tearing it up, and I feel like it's time that I really need to get back up on this horse. To kick things off, I'm putting some remixes up on here that I had done a few years back and have not really seen the light of day except for for a select few. Some of these tracks have been remastered by myself or enhanced. They're being swapped with the old versions on the site. I'm planning on just making a mix CD of all my old stuff, clearing that all out of my head, and then getting on with some new shit. Going to start taking a day off every other week to be just a studio day, no distractions. Lastly, of note, you may notice that I've changed my production moniker to J Psycle. Just to avoid confusion and all... Google says: there's a plug-in company called Psycle, and a bicycle company named Psycle, and some band named Psycle, and I heard that there was some kid who was apparently spinning at Transit under the name Psycle or something like it (ill man, ill, if that's true). |

Once again, it's been awhile since this section has been updated, but some worthwhile news to report now. First of all, updates: new pics in the scrapbook section, quite a few new tunes up in the mp3 section since the last update, and an updated bio section. Now for the important stuff: A bunch of vinyl releases pending on various labels. The Rev-E remix of Psycle's "Blackout" should be forthcoming on Twisted Individual's Zombie Recordings at some point in the near future. "Daybreak", along with the DJ Spyder remix, that's been tearing it up lately, is forthcoming on the newly revived Technorganic Recordings. "I've Got Soul (dark funk mix)" is coming out on Social Groove in either October or November with "System Shock" on the flip. Lastly, Psycle's remix of the EZ Rollers' "Roadrunner" is coming out on limited white label in November. |

Alright, yeah, so we slack with the news updates. Meh. Anyway, Jeremy Psycle's "System Shock" goes up on the site today. It is a monster!! Damn well should be because it's been about 2 solid months in the making. This track was undoubtedly the most difficult track to mix down, ever. Probably still going to keep on tweeking it, but check it!! |

After a relatively long hiatus, we're back at it with new tunes and new additions to the District Sound family. Psycle's studio has been completely renovated and the sound pressure that's being put forth right now is just amazing at this point. As far as new additions to our collective goes, we've got a couple heavy hitters coming to you in the near future. Psycle has teamed up with The Prophecy Projekt to bring you Edge Kinetix, which will specialize in making more musical tunes that still have the heavy weight punch to them. You can expect some serious thinking outside-of-the-box type bizness coming out of that alliance. Also, keep an eye out for contributions from Ackshun Jackson's Hipstep 3000 kru such as Jesse Kane, and Ackshun himself, who has been building a studio of his own over the break and will be putting out some dope solo work soon. As far as new tracks goes, Psycle's 'Playground Tactics' was put up about a week ago, and was his first attempt at his new method of working in the studio. Slacker! Expect the Edge Kinetix VIP remix of this tune to come out in the next couple of weeks or so. Just needs to be mixed down, but believe me, it is S-I-C-K! 'Woman's Man', by Psycle goes up today and it is a dancefloor slaughterer for lack of better words. All kinds of good new stuff coming very soon so check it! |

Some bad news this time. On Thursday afternoon, the club owner of Bintumani informed us that the building Bintumani resides in was just condemned by the city of D.C. So basically, Hip-Step 3000 cannot be held at Bintumani any longer and we've gotta go out and find a new spot. Unfortunately, this means that HS3000 nights will be canceled until Friday, Nov. 29th, when we host Freaky Flow and Flipside. We will DEFINITELY still be having that, and so look for the new flyers that will include the location change and details for that night coming out next week. Also, keep checking back here for news on our new permanent location, once we have that locked down, and information and updates on the Freaky Flow/Flipside show. Please spread the word about this, because a lot of people don't read the message boards and stuff, and you know how much it sucks to drive all the way out somewhere just to find out it's been canceled. |

Psycle and Ackshun are back at it in the studio once again under the District Sound moniker, after a few months hiatus. A new stormer should be out and up on the site by the end of the month, featuring none other than Talib Kweli, rattling off poetry that will bring you to your knees! Keep checking back for this one. It'll be something you definitely will not want to sleep on. |
Sunday Night Sessions is officially dead, killed, deceased. May it RIP, Oct. 1999 - Sept. 2002. Now it's time to check out the new Friday night joint going down, brought to you by the same krew that brought you SNS, in conjuction with District Sound Recordings, Hip-Step3000! On October 18th, we will be having none other than DJ Odi and Datcyde, two of THE most lethal junglists on the East Coast, and they'll be throwing down for Ackshun Jackson's 24th birthday bash. Bring your best birthday suit... |
